Bio-Terrorism/Public Health Assistant PT

 

The Wauwatosa Health Department has a half time opening for a high level clerical person to perform a wide variety of tasks related to the development of emergency response plans.  This position provides advanced, complex administrative/office management skills and support services associated with the Bioterrorism Preparedness Program.  Activities include preparing reports, compiling research project data, maintaining  budget information, scheduling and managing logistics for training programs and professional seminars; processing large mailings and correspondence; forms and publications revisions; word processing; complex functions such as processing documents, maintaining logs and records, assistance with preparing presentations and taking minutes at assigned meetings.

 

Associate degree desired; associate degree in Communications, Office Administration, or a related field and a minimum of five years of progressively-responsible experience.  Shorthand or speed writing transcription skills are required.  This position is funded by a CDC grant with a beginning wage of $14.39 per hour and will be limited in its duration by the grant. Bio-Terrorism Preparedness & Response Coordinator

 

The Wauwatosa Health Department has an immediate opening for a Bio-Terrorism/Public Health Preparedness & Response Coordinator.  This position will be responsible for the assessment and planning related to bio-terrorism and other Public Health emergencies.  Provides leadership in assessing the current capabilities of public health and health care providers, services and organizations to plan and respond to bio-terrorism and public health emergencies.  Assists in developing local and regional plans, participates in testing plans, reviews and revises plans and facilitates workforce development based on gap analysis.  Will develop and write plans for the Milwaukee/Waukesha Consortium for Emergency Public Health Preparedness addressing Alternate Mass Care, Emergency Response Capacity, Enhanced Communication/Risk Communication--24/7, Epidemiological Competency Gaps and National Pharmaceutical Stockpile issues.

 

This position requires a BA, with an MA preferred in Public Health, Health Education, Nursing, Health Administration or Environmental Health.  Will supervise 1 part time clerical.  This exempt position has a salary range beginning at $ 41,100 DOQ with an excellent benefits package.  This position is grant funded and will be limited in its duration by the grant funding.
