Summer Library Reading Records
For Children of all ages
June 12th through August 12th
Beginning June 12th come to the Brown Deer Public Library and register for the "Paws, Claws, Scales & Tales" 2006 Summer Library Reading Program. At registration you will receive a reading record to keep track of your reading, (being read to also counts), and a "Paws, Claws, Scales & Tales" Bookmark.
This year you will have your choice of:
reading any 10 books of your choice and recording the titles inside the reading record, OR
reading any book(s) of your choice for a total of 10 blocks of time, and recording your timed reading on the back cover.
When you have completed your reading you may bring in your completed record for a
"Congratulations Packet" This packet includes an assortment of tickets and coupons for attractions in the Milwaukee area. (See list of coupons posted in the children’s department of the library.)You will also have your choice of a "Paws" Sticker.

"African Fables"
The Atwood Players offer a thirty five minute play that features stories about Anansi the Spider.

Schlitz Audubon NatureCenter presents "Skins & Scales"
Ever gotten touchy-feely with a snake? Ever wonder what is making that cricket-like sound in your backyard? This is a hands-on live animal presentation. There are songs, stories, skits, contests for young and old alike. Learn how many of these creatures have been misunderstood and actually help us. We’ll also learn about many of the amazing adaptations these creatures possess. Animals can include snakes, turtles, lizards, frogs, and salamanders!

"Swami of Origami"

Join the Swami as he teaches us how to make a jumping frog out of paper.

Join us as Kathy presents stories, songs, and puppets with a pet theme.

"Art in a Suitcase"
Art in a Suitcase offers a program created each summer that corresponds to the summer theme, featuring natural science and factual information. Her program is highly interactive and concludes with a hands on art project for which all supplies are included. Her suitcase is filled with folk art, fine art, science specimens, puppets and more!
