VI. New Business
A) Governor’s Proposed 2003
– 2005 State of
Mr. Van Gompel reviewed his memorandum regarding the
Governor’s Proposed State Budget and the proposed impact on the Village. He
discussed the shared revenue calculation formula and the statewide inequity
involved in making cuts based on per capita.
No action
required.
VII. Department Report – North Shore Health Department
Jane Peterson, Director of the North Shore Health
Department, discussed the history and creation of the Department. She reviewed
the services that the Department provides to the community. She discussed new
issues facing the department, including bio-terrorism preparedness (including
grant funding opportunities), community health monitoring systems using the
internet, state budget impacts, food recalls, beach water contamination
testing, consolidation of municipal services, West Nile Virus sampling and
monitoring, and the impact of chronic wasting disease.
VIII. Village President’s Report
President Jaberg reported on the following items:
The contracted services and
service agreements provided to the North Shore Fire Department are being
reviewed in order to consider possible savings. The NSFD Board finalized the
by-laws for the North Shore Fire Department Foundation, and is now seeking
members to serve on the Foundation Board.
She thanked Village Staff
for the productive community workshop on Saturday.
IX. Village Manager’s Report
Mr. Van Gompel reported on the following items:
Saturday’s vision workshop
had between 90 and 100 people in attendance. Focus groups will be held in
March. Information gathered from the workshop and focus groups will be used to
prepare the community survey.
Assistant Village Manager
Todd Schmidt has submitted his resignation and has accepted the position of
City Administrator with the City of
Post cards are being mailed
to registered voters who will be impacted by the recent change in wards or
precincts.
