Administrative Services

The Administrative Services Department serves many important functions for our Village and maintains several services used by Brown Deer citizens and businesses. Administrative Services include taxes, revenue, pet licenses, purchasing and accounts payable.

Community Services

The Community Services Department is responsible for the physical and economic development of the Village. The activities of the Department range from maintaining the long range plans for the Village to reviewing plans for new buildings and issuing business licenses.

Building Inspection

The Inspection Department provides a number of diversified services to the Village, its citizens, and businesses. Our goal is to provide a safe living and working environment, through inspections, that assures building code compliance and provide zoning enforcement to maintain the Village’s property values.

Fire Department

The North Shore Fire Department will provide our citizens and visitors the best possible all risk emergency service in the protection of lives and property. 

Library

The library is an organized collection of sources of information and similar resources, made accessible to the citizens of Brown Deer and Milwaukee County for reference or borrowing.

Municipal Court

The Municipal Court is responsible for the adjudication of traffic and criminal misdemeanor violations, and code violations that occur within the limits of the Village. The Court also provides treatment and supervision to offenders who participate in its various specialty court programs, promoting public safety and accountability in those seeking recovery.

Manager’s Office

The Manager’s Office mission is to carry out the policies and programs approved by the Village Board and to provide administrative leadership. The Village Clerk is located with the Manager’s Office and functions as the Clerk of the Trustees and maintains all official records for the Village.


Parks & Recreation

The Village of Brown Deer Parks & Recreation Department offers a wide range of activities. From sport leagues and facilities to youth and senior services to parks and trails, there are hundreds of ways to participate in our community! 

Police Department

The Brown Deer Police Department is fully accredited by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group (WILEAG) and places emphasis on Community Orientated Policing and Problem Solving within the community.

Public Health

The North Shore Health Department has a proud and respected tradition of providing excellent health services to our North Shore communities. Our mission is to improve our residents’ health, prevent disease, and safeguard the environment through an organized, collaborative effort.

Public Works

The Public Works Department offers many services to Village residents and visitors. We design, operate and maintain village-owned facilities, sewer, storm drain, and road infrastructure.

Sanitary Sewer

The Sanitary Sewer Utility accounts for the activities of the sanitary sewer operations of the Village.  Brown Deer is part of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD), which provides interceptor sewers and treatment of the sanitary sewage generated in the Village.  Sewer activities handled by Village employees include maintenance and cleaning of collection sewers and monitoring of the sanitary sewer system located within the Brown Deer.

Stormwater Management

The purpose of the Stormwater Management Utility is to advance the quality of life for the residents of the Village through the improvement and management of the quality and quantity of water that originates in, falls onto, or passes through the Village on its way to the local watershed.


Water Department

The Brown Deer Water Utility’s goal is to provide our customers with an ample supply of high quality water at a fair and reasonable rate for public health and sanitation in addition to fire protection demands through continual evaluations of utility assets, effective preventative maintenance programs, and efficient daily operations.
