COVID-19 Updates

During the ongoing health crisis, the Brown Deer Public Library staff and Library Board are committed to finding new and creative ways to safely fulfill our mission to connect all people and provide access to information, resources, and recreation.

Thank you for your understanding as the Brown Deer Public Library staff continues to strive to provide you fast, enjoyable, and safe services during this unprecedented time.

Mask Requirement

Effective August 10, 2021

The Brown Deer Public Library is committed to helping our library users and staff stay safe and stop the spread of COVID-19 in our community, specifically the Delta variant.

Due to the high number of recent COVID-19 cases in Brown Deer, and in Milwaukee County as a whole, the library will require face coverings for all patrons age two and over and staff, regardless of vaccination status.

Face masks for adults and children are available at the Circulation Desk, if needed.

The library continues to employ a variety of mitigation techniques to help slow the spread of COVID-19,  including distancing between computers, HEPA filtration units, hand sanitizing stations, and potentially soon the limiting of furniture on the library floor. Adding a face covering requirement for people regardless of vaccination status adds another layer to our strategy to keep patrons and staff safe, especially for those who are not vaccinated, such as children.

COVID-19 numbers will be evaluated by the Library Leadership Team weekly, and the masking requirement will be reviewed by the Library Board on a monthly basis at each regularly scheduled meeting.

We thank you as always for your understanding and patience as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 crisis.
