Committees & Meeting Times
All meetings are open to the public and are held at the Village Hall unless otherwise noted. The Village Board Chambers, located at Village Hall, is used as the meeting location for many Village committees, boards, and commissions, and as the Municipal Court Room.

Beautification & Public Works Committee
The Beautification & Public Works Committee oversees all public beautification efforts including forestry, and transportation infrastructure and provides commercial landscape plan review. The committee also provides a streamlined and effective approach to review public work operations.

Board of Appeals
The Board of Appeals has jurisdiction to hear and decide appeals where it is alleged there is error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination of the Village Building Inspector in the enforcement of the Zoning Code.

Board of Review
The Board of Review meets annually to carefully examine the tax roll and correct all apparent errors in description or computation and shall add all omitted properties.

Building Board
The Building Board considers building permits for all structures for which a permit is required.

Community Development Authority
The Community Development Authority was created to act as the Housing Authority and Redevelopment Authority, with responsibilities for projects relating to blight eliminations, clearance of undesirable conditions, urban renewal, and redevelopment programs.

Farmers Market Committee
The Farmers Market coordinates and delegates functions and duties to create a successful and organized Brown Deer Farmer’s Market.

Finance & Personnel Committee
The Finance and Public Works Committee reviews and makes recommendations to the Village Board relating to all Village expenditures for expenses and capital improvements.

Human Relations Committee
The Human Relations Committee provides resources and programming on community issues to assist under-represented populations; advocates for the rights and values of the community through the protection of human and civil rights; listens to community comments related to discrimination, harassment, vandalism involving a hate crime, and intimidation; and reviews internal public organizational processes, procedures, and facilities to make recommendations for improvements.

Library Board
The Library Board acts as an oversight body with regards to the Brown Deer Public Library.

North Shore Board of Health
The North Shore Board of Health governs the health department and assures the enforcement of state public health statutes and public health rules.

Parks & Recreation Committee
Parks and Recreation Department policies and procedures are governed by the Brown Deer Park and Recreation Committee.

Plan Commission
The Plan Commission studies and make recommendations to the Village Board in matters of proposed site plans, zoning changes, subdivision plats, and Comprehensive Plan and Official Village Map review.

Police Commission
The Police Commission is responsible for the appointment of the Police Chief and the approval of subordinate appointments to the Police Department.

Special Events Committee
The Special Events Committee is involved in the coordination and delegation of functions and duties to established sub-committees that will provide orderly and traditional special event activities in the Village.

Tourism Commission
The Tourism Commission is responsible for overseeing the collection and expenditure of room tax revenue and to make allowable expenditures for tourism promotion and tourism development.

Water Commission
The Water Commission acts as an oversight body for the Brown Deer Public Water Utility.
