Tyler Burkart Named New Village Manager

The Village of Brown Deer has hired Mr. Tyler Burkart as its new Village Manager effective February 7th.

Mr. Burkart comes to Brown Deer from the Village of Shorewood, where he has served as the Assistant Village Manager since April 2015. In that role, he served as staff liaison to five different Village committees, worked directly with the Village Board on a number of policies, budget development, and long-range financial planning, as well as served as the Human Resources Manager.

Prior to his current position Burkart was an Assistant to the City Administrator for the City of Woodbury in Minnesota. He also spent time as a City Administration Intern for the City of Middleton as well as the City of Janesville. Burkart earned his Master of Public Administration from University of Kansas and a BS of Science in Public Administration and Political Science from University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.

"We are excited to welcome Tyler Burkart to Brown Deer as our new Village Manager," said Village President Wanda Montgomery. "We're hopeful that Tyler will bring a wealth of knowledge and energy to this role in helping to make Brown Deer that gem in the North Shore."

The Village had a strong application pool for the position, receiving applications from both in state and out of state. The pool was narrowed to the four best qualified candidates. Of those, two were selected to participate in a process that included an interview and a meet n’ greet with the community. Finally, a second interview with the Village Board and Village staff was held.
